Watkins Glen State Park, USA
Watkins Glen State Park, New York, USA. The park was opened for the public visits in 1863 as a privately run recreational area, before it was purchased by the state of New York. The park has some incredible natural sites like a narrow 120 m deep gorge. The beautiful Rainbow Bridge and Falls are a highlight of the area.
From the Rainbow bridge a wonderful view opens – the rocky surroundings are the result of an ice age: glaciers have washed out rocks and left this beautiful natural spot. There are a lot of facilities and services in the park: from camping sites, picnic tables, food shops to a pool. Fishing, hiking and cross-county skiing are among the favorite activities here.
