Về Set up Router.

  • Được trả lời Về Set up Router.

    Vì lâu lắm rồi không làm cũng như tài liệu tham khảo bỏ đâu mất tiêu nên không còn nhớ. Và vì muốn làm " bà tám" giúp bạn bè nên nay có hai vấn đề
    muốn nhờ bà con.( Rõ là VB xạo sự và nhiều chuyện ).
    -Thứ nhất : Bạn của VB có sẳn một Router từ bấy lâu nay và nối dây trực tiếp cho hai PC ( một cái cho anh ta và một cái cho thằng con ) ,nghĩa là không có cái nào xài Wireless Adapter. Ban ngày anh ta rảnh rỗi xem phim online thì ngon lành ,nhưng khi chiều thằng con đi làm về nó cũng vào Internet thì cả hai cha con đều chịu thua vì Singal quá yếu,quá chậm... xem phim không được . Điều VB muốn hỏi là có phải cái Router đó có vấn đề rồi hay không? Làm sao để định bệnh nó ? Và nếu nó có vấn đề thì....
    -Thứ hai : Từ ngày xài chương trình FiOS của Verizon ,mình dư cái Router và định cho và giúp Set Up luôn dùm anh ta, nhưng như trên đã nói quên rồi cách Set Up làm sao .Bà con nào có thể giúp VB hoặc có Link nào hướng dẫn (bằng tiếng Việt nghe) thì chỉ cho.Nhớ cho xin Link tiếng Việt chớ tiếng Mỹ mà nhờ Google dịch thì dễ bị tẩu hỏa lắm. Cám ơn nhiều lắm bà con ơi.

    Vấn đề này thì EVo đành "bờ i bi sắc", chịu thua. Chạy đi bắt cái ghế ngồi đợi cao thủ chỉ giáo

      Bạn phải nói rõ là dùng cho DSL hay cable internet? Vì setup khác nhau.

          Nếu là DSL dùng với router bạn nên theo các bước căn bản sau :
          1 _ set DSL modem internet connection type: Bridge
          2_ Vào router set internet connection type: PPPo
          Rồi type: user name and pssw cho DSL account của bạn.
          Nhớ là save tất cả các bước setup
          Power off tất cả router và modem và computer.
          Khi power on các device theo thứ tự : modem, router, và cuối cùng là computer.

                192.168.1.1 là IP của router, đa số router đều có địa chỉ IP đó. Nó cho phép bạn access router từ web browser để setup router.

                SSID là ID bạn tự đặt để nhận biết internet của mình , ví dụ bạn đặt là my_house_net, thì khi vào network bạn biết cái network nào là của bạn.

                WEP key là dùng để cài pssw để người khác không share internet với mình.

                Tóm lại, khi nào bạn setup xong internet thì mới làm những bước trên.

                  Setting up a secure wireless Verizon network with the Actiontec router .



                  Open a web browser like internet explorer or Netscape. Enter the ip address of your router in the address bar of your browser. In the picture above the address bar has http://www.google.com in it. Just replace all of that with the ip address of your router. By default the ip address should be set to 192.168.0.1.

                  You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now. By default both the username and password are admin. Click the Ok button to log in to your router.



                  Click the Setup / Configuration link near the top of the page.

                  Turn on the option called Wireless.

                  In the box called ESSID put a name that you make up. You will need to remember this name because it will be used to connect to your wireless network. Do not make it obvious to guess, the network name should be difficult for your neighbors to guess. If you can not think of anything, simply use your first name.

                  In the box called Channel, pick a random channel number. Channels make it so that you and your neighbors can use your own wireless networks without interfering with each other. By picking a random channel you reduce the chance of your neighbor using the same channel as you.

                  Choosing your network security type can be challenging. Use the table below to help you decide which encryption type is best for you.

                  Security
                  Strength Encryption Type Description
                  Best WPA2 Stands for Wi-Fi Protected Access. This is the newest version of WPA, and is generally considered the most secure. However, most users do not have WPA2 available yet. If your router supports WPA2, and you are running Windows XP SP2
                  , then this is most likely your best choice for security. WPA2 is generally not compatible with small, standalone devices like game consoles, MP3 players, phones, and cameras.
                  Excellent WPA Stands for Wi-Fi Protected Access and is generally the best choice right now for most users. If your router supports WPA, and you are running Windows XP SP2, then this is most likely your best choice for security. WPA2 is generally not compatible with small, standalone devices like game consoles, MP3 players, phones, and cameras.
                  Better than nothing WEP - Open Key Stands for Wired Equivalent Privacy. This is the old security method and should only be used if WPA is not available to you. WEP comes in different bit lenghts, usually 64 bit (sometimes called 40 bit) and 128 bit. Pick the largest number that you see. There is no reason to use a small bit lenght anymore. Shared Key means that you must share your key (password) with other users before they can use your network.
                  Not secure WEP - Shared Key This version of WEP is generally considered not secure. Do not use it, unless it is your only choice.


                  Put a dot into the WEP radio button.

                  When you are finished, click the Next button.



                  Select Open from the Authentication Type drop down box.

                  Put a dot into the Key 1 radio button.

                  Select 128 bits from the Key 1 drop down box.

                  If you are using WPA
                  Now you need to make up a passphrase.

                  Your WPA key can be a plain text, human readable sentence. Make sure it is long, however, because recent hack attempts have exploited short WPA passphrases. Your WPA passphrase should be at least 30 letters long.

                  Onnce you have made up your passphrase, write it down somewhere. You will need it at each computer that you are going to connect to your network.

                  If you are using WEP
                  Now you need to make up your network key.

                  It doesn't matter what this key is, as long as it is random. A network key is a password that is 26 characters long, and made up of only the letters A,B,C,D,E,F and the numbers 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9. If you are using 128 bit WEP, then your key must be exactly 26 characters long, and the more random it is, the better it is. Here is an example of a random 128 bit network key:

                  Onnce you have made up your key, write it down somewhere. You will need it at each computer that you are going to connect to your network.


                  Now put the key you made up in the box called Key 1.

                  When you are finished, click the Next button.

                  Click the Wireless Advanced Settings link near the left side of the page.



                  Turn off the option called SSID Broadcast. This turns off the broadcast of your networks name making it more difficult for other people to find your network. You do not want to broadcast your networks name.

                  When you are finished, click the Next button.

                  Click the Save and Restart link near the left side of the page.



                  When you're finished, click Save and Restart near the center of the screen to save your changes.

                  And that's it! You're done!

This gives every who lives near you access to not only your bandwidth, but also to your computers including your personal data files. You absolutly must secure your wireless network or else you are asking for trouble.

                  Depending on the encryption type you have chosen for your network, the following steps may be a little bit different. The example below is for WEP encryption, because that is the type that most people currently use. If WPA is available for you, it is a superior choice.

                  In the drop down box called Data encryption pick the encryption type that you have chosen for your network. You can see that we have chosen WEP for our network.

                  In the drop down box called Network Authentication pick the wireless authentication type that you have choose for your network. In this case we have chosen Open. Remember that Open is better than Shared. Shared is considered pretty much useless for most people.

                  Make sure that there is NOT a check in the box called The key is provided for me automatically. Now you can type your network key in the box called Network key. You made up your personal network key when you turned on security on your router. Most people can leave the Key index at 1.

                  Click Ok twice to close the 2 open dialog boxes.

                  If you have done everything correctly, you should get a popup window that tells you that you are now connected to your wireless network. Windows will refer to your wireless network by the SSID that you assigned it. If it says Connected to: followed by a name other than your SSID, then you are connected to someone else's wireless network. You can use the Signal Strength indication to know where your wireless network can be connected to. Ideally, you only want your wireless network to be visible in your house or on your property. Now would be a good time to walk around and see how far your access point is transmitting.

                  How to Verify that your Wireless Network is Secure

                  Verifying that your wireless network is secure is easy. Go back through the above steps. Only this time, intentionally misspell your wireless networks name (SSID). When you get to to the bottom, Windows should tell you that it was unable to connect.

                  To verify that your encryption is working correctly, go back through the above steps and intentionally mistype your key. When you get to the end of the guide Windows will report back that it has connected ok. However, you will not be able to surf the web or check your email.

                  Once you have verified that you network is indeed secure, go through the guide a final time and put all of your information in correctly. Windows will connect to your wireless network and you will be able to surf the web and check your email.

                  Congratulations, you have joined your secure wireless network!

                    Rất hữu ích với sự giải thích cùa bạn Hiệp Khách về mấy chữ viết tắt khiến mình tỏ rõ thêm.
                    Về phần Việt viết bài hướng dẫn căn kẻ như thế , tuy mình lùng bùng hai lổ tai nhưng vì đã có một lần (một lần duy nhất hơn năm qua ) có làm qua nên dựa vào bài của Việt mình sẽ phăng lần ra .Với đức tính hiếu học (hơi tự phụ chút ) VB sẽ cố gắng và tin rằng sẽ hiểu được những gì Việt hướng dẫn. Thành thật cám ơn hai bạn rất nhiều.
                    Lại có một chuyện nhỏ hỏi cho biết thôi chứ không quan trọng lắm.
                    Số là mình đem cái Router cũ hiệu Netgear của mình qua nhà anh bạn cách nhà mình hơn hai miles.Vì cũng cùng một hiệu Netgear nên sau khi nối dây xong xuôi và bật ON tất cả ( không cần set up gì ráo trọi ) ,nó kết nối được Internet.Duy có điều kỳ lạ là sao tên của mình vẫn thấy mà Singal lại mạnh ,5 que xanh hết cả năm luôn.Mình muốn cho anh ta cái Router đó nhưng làm sao bỏ ,delete hay làm sao move tên mình ra khỏi danh sách bản "phong thần" đó? Có được không ?
